We are excited to invite you all to the Quantum Optics Workshop , organized jointly by the METU Optics and Photonics Society (OPS) and the Quantum ODTU Society . This enriching lecture series, delivered by Prof. Sadi Turgut , will begin on Friday, February 28th, at 18:00, and will continue for 7 weeks. Each session will be 2 hours long.
The workshop will be held in the Cavid Erginsoy Seminar Room, and we look forward to seeing you there for an engaging and insightful learning experience.
Date and Time: February 28 Friday , 18:00-20.00
Location: Cavid Erginsoy Seminar Room
Tentative Syllabus:
1. Ladder operators for a harmonic oscillator – Particles vs fields, QM for identical particles, bosons, etc.
2. Quantization of the electromagnetic field – Quadrature operators, squeezing.
3. Hong-Ou-Mandel effect – Can two photons interfere with each other? Bell state analysis for photons.
4. Transition rates – Spontaneous and stimulated emission, Purcell effect, Superradiance.
5. Quantum computation with light – (TBD)
6. Coherent states – Photon statistics, Hanbury Brown-Twiss measurement.
